FAQs: Newly Admitted Graduate Students

Congratulations!

You've been admitted to the Monte Ahuja College of Business as a Graduate Student! You may have a few questions - we created this page to help you get started.

  • I need help scheduling classes, or I have questions about my program requirements.

You can schedule an appointment with one of our graduate program coordinators. Use the Business Calendar link to create an account and schedule an appointment or call our front desk at 216-687-3729 during business hours. All appointments are via Zoom or by phone.

  • How do I find out who my assigned graduate program coordinator is?

Log on to Starfish through the Campus Net portal and check your network to find your coordinator and their email address. Note that our COB program coordinators do not schedule appointments through Starfish. They use the Business Calendar.

  • I have a simple question. What’s the best way to get an answer?

Use our Graduate Business email: gradbusinessadvising@csuohio.edu. Our student services professionals monitor this email inbox daily, and you should receive an answer within 24 hours. Please help us assist you by including your CSU ID number in your email message.

  • How long is my program?

Our graduate programs are 30-33 credits (10 or 11 courses). Some programs have foundation or prerequisite courses.

Waivers are based on undergraduate or graduate courses completed within the prior 10 years and graded C or better. Waivers are determined at the time of admission, after a review of transcripts. We do not waive courses based on work experience or certificates earned. Only academic courses can be used. Any waivers will be noted on the Degree Audit, and any required prerequisite, foundation or preparatory courses needed are noted on the admission letter.

  •  Can I apply undergraduate courses to a Business graduate degree?

No. Only 500 and 600 level graduate courses apply to our graduate degrees. In some circumstances, graduate credit earned at another school or earned as part of another CSU graduate degree may be applied to a Business graduate degree. Consult your assigned graduate program coordinator for details.

  •  How do I register for classes, accept my financial aid, check and pay my account balance, and check my academic progress?

All of these functions are available through our student portal, Campus Net. Your CSU ID number is your log-in ID. You need to set your password the first time you log in. We recommend you log on to Campus Net and explore its functions as soon as you can following admission. Make sure your personal data is up-to-date, check and accept your financial aid, and enroll in classes. Use the Student tab, Add/Drop link, to enroll. Your assigned graduate program coordinator can assist you in this process. Also, all CSU students have a CSU email account, which is used by CSU staff to send official notices.

  • I have my schedule figured out but I received a prerequisite error when trying to enroll in one or more classes. How can I enroll?

When this happens, your best option is to complete and submit the Course Permission Form. COB staff will check your records and let you know by email when you can proceed with registration.

  • The class I want to enroll in is full. How can I register for it?

University policy does not allow us to override full classes. Your best option is to join the waitlist. If a spot opens in the class, you will receive notification to your CSU email, so you can take action and enroll in the class. Waitlists also help College of Business officials to know if more seats should be opened or if a new section should be added.

  •  How do I access my online classes?

CSU uses Blackboard as the platform for its online classes. You will use your Campus Net password to log on to Blackboard. If you have a problem involving Blackboard, contact the Center for E-learning at 216-687-3960 or elearning@csuohio.edu.

  •  How do I stay in good academic standing?

The rules for graduate students are stricter than for undergraduates. Good academic standing means a grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or better, and only two classes graded C can count toward the degree. There is no grade of D in graduate school. Students must have a GPA of 3.00 or better to earn their degree. Two F grades, regardless of GPA, or 3 grades of less than B (B- or C) and a GPA below 3.00 will result in academic dismissal. Please see the Graduate Catalog section on regulations and requirements for more information.

  •  Does the College of Business have any scholarships?

Yes. Please see Graduate Business Scholarships. Most of the scholarship applications open on December 1 for the following academic year, though application deadlines vary. Scholarships are awarded for Fall and Spring. Recipients must be enrolled in at least 6 graduate credit hours and be in good academic standing. Scholarship applicants must file a FAFSA.

  •  I have questions about my student loans or my student account. Who can help me?

CSU’s All-in-One office can assist you. See their website for the services they offer and for their phone and walk-in hours. You can email them at allin1@csuohio.edu or call 216-687-5411.
